Make your dual degree even more extraordinary! As a DLI student, you can enhance your studies with a global experience at our home university campuses:  Lancaster University in the UK and/or Deakin University in Australia.

Eligibility

Study Exchange is a merit-based opportunity.

  1. Study Exchange places are available across all undergraduate dual degree programs offered at DLI.
  2. The application process is competitive; you need to demonstrate academic readiness to engage in the Study Exchange program:
    1. A Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of > 70% on completion of your first trimester of study at DLI is the minimum academic achievement you need in order to be considered for the opportunity. 
    2. In addition to demonstrating the minimum academic results, you will also be required to demonstrate, through an interview process with the DLI Rector, that you are sufficiently prepared and motivated to engage successfully in the program.

 

How to apply:

  • Applications for Study Exchange for Year 2 of your undergraduate dual degree, must be received by 5pm Friday of Week One of Trimester 2, Year 1.
  • In your application you will be required to indicate your Study Exchange preference as per the options listed below.  
  • You will receive your application outcome by 5pm Friday of Week Four of Trimester 2, Year 1. The assessment process will take approximately 3 weeks.

Your study exchange options

You can visit either Deakin University or Lancaster University, or both. Find out the option that works best for you.

Lancaster University, UK

Study at Lancaster University during the September-December study period (DLI Trimester 1, Year 2)

Deakin University, Australia

Study at Deakin University during the March-June study period (DLI Trimester 2, Year 2)

Both Deakin University and Lancaster University

Lancaster University, UK, September – December study period (DLI Trimester 1, Year 2) and Deakin University, Australia, March – June study period (DLI Trimester 2, Year 2)

Financial Planning

During your Study Exchange, you will continue paying your DLI tuition fees while managing additional costs of international study, including:

  1. Visa application and processing (UK visa requirements | Australian visa requirements)
  2. International flights and student accommodation
  3. Health insurance and living expenses

  4. Cultural orientation

 

Important information: 

  1. Module (subject) availability at Lancaster University and Deakin University may vary and will be confirmed closer to the start of the Study Exchange period.
  2. Study Exchange semesters at both Lancaster University and Deakin University are typically made up of between 10 and 12 teaching weeks plus end of semester examination/assessment weeks.
  3. The duration of the Study Exchange program at each University’s home campus is one semester.
  4. Additional costs for accommodation, visas and living expenses will be incurred by the student.
  5. Students are responsible for all costs beyond DLI tuition fees, but comprehensive guidance is provided throughout the process.
